Over a century ago, Archie Jamieson established the farm on this remarkable stretch of the North Norfolk coast. Since then, each generation has left its mark, while remaining true to the same belief: that the land should be cared for, nurtured and passed on in better condition than it was found.
The first orchards were planted in the 1950s by David Jamieson and these have become one of Drove’s defining features. Today the farm is home to over 140 varieties of apples, pears, plums, cherries and quinces, producing fruit that reflects the special characteristics of this unique stretch of coastline. The most recent addition is Drove Vineyard, where four carefully selected grape varieties will produce wines that we hope will be as good as the ciders and juices we have been making for the last 30 years.
Andrew and Linda Jamieson were instrumental in diversifying Drove yet further by creating a home for independent shops, restaurants and artisan businesses, while placing conservation at the heart of the estate. Today, wetlands, traditional orchards, species-rich grasslands and woodland are being restored and expanded, creating habitats where wildlife can thrive whilst our cattle herd grazes alongside. We’re particularly proud that our freshwater marshes are now home to curlews, one of Britain’s most threatened birds.
What began as a family farm has grown into a destination where people can gather, eat well, shop locally and experience the very best of Norfolk.
Drove is now run by Oscar Jamieson, who lives on the farm with his wife, Alice, and their two daughters, Constance and Dinah. Building on the work of previous generations, Oscar continues to invest in the future of the estate through farming, conservation, hospitality and the creation of exceptional local food and drink experiences, ensuring that Drove remains a place where people, nature and the land can flourish together for generations to come.
We believe that great food begins with great farming, thriving communities are built around shared experiences, and beautiful landscapes deserve to be cared for. Those principles continue to guide everything we do.
